Thailand, officially known as the Kingdom of Thailand, is located in Southeast Asia. Bangkok, the capital and most populous city, is the center of political, commercial, and industrial activity. The country is bordered to the east by Laos (a large part of this border is formed by the Mekong River), to the southeast by Cambodia and the Gulf of Thailand, to the south by Malaysia, and the west by the Sea of Andaman and Burma. It has an area of 513,120 km² and about 71,600,000 inhabitants in 2021 (20th most populous country in the world) which represents a population density of about 128 inhabitants/km². About 75% of the population is ethnically Thai, 14% is of Chinese origin and 3% is of Malay origin. The rest belong to minority groups, including the Mons, Khmer, and various Hill tribes. The official language of the country is Thai. The main religion is Buddhism, practiced by 95% of its population. Thailand experienced rapid economic growth between 1985 and 1996. Today it is a newly industrialized country and a major exporter. Tourism also contributes significantly to the national economy. The country is very unequal. In Thailand there are 2.2 million immigrants, it should be noted that this land also attracts expatriates from developing countries.
Thailand's climate is divided into three seasons:
1. Rainy or monsoon season (May-October)
2. Cool season (November-February)
3. Hot season (March-April).

Phuket is one of the southern provinces of Thailand. Neighboring provinces are Phang Nga and Krabi. Although Phuket is an island and its borders are not land, you can cross to Phang Nga via the Sarasin Bridge. The island of Phuket has a humid tropical climate, with constant temperatures throughout the year. Due to its proximity to the equator, average maximum temperatures range between 34°C in March and 31°C in July and December. Average minimum temperatures range between 24°C and 25°C. The rainy season begins in May and ends in October, with heavy monsoon rains. September is the rainiest month of the year and it is estimated that the island has 170 rainy days per year on average. The dry season begins from December to March, with January and February being the least rainy.
